Technically, “Baptist” covers a lot of different denominations. Even within Southern Baptist congregations, there are a variety of interpretations. Even greater are the variety of views within Protestant denominations. If you are looking for somewhere to worship along the lines of the Biblical interpretations offered by your church, you may want to do a little research into what is offered. Catholics have a pretty specific dogma, whereas many Protestant denominations…while accepting Sola Scripture; that is, putting literal interpreation of the scriptures as the primary source of truth…some have very loose, personal doctrines. It depends on your personal preferences. As far as their social doctrines, Catholics are usually more liberal, but there are a variety of issues and many different denominations within Protestantism that are very conservative, comparable to Southern Baptism.
