Which is bigger ?the bull mastiff or boerboel?
They’re actually very similar in size, although the Boerboel tends to be a bit heavier. I guess I’d rather have a Bullmastiff, although I’m a bit peeved by their small ears and squashed faces. (I’m used to the English Mastiff’s big, floppy ears and handsome, square face. Haha, can you tell I’m biased?) Boerboels are just way too high-maintenance for me. That is, they are genuine working dogs. They require a huge amount of daily stimulation, both physical and mental, to remain happy and balanced. Bullmastiffs require more exercise than an English Mastiff would, but they’re more comparable. Bullmastiffs are also “softer” than the sharp-edged Boerboel, if you know what I mean. Boerboels are a bit more independent, confident and challenging. You can’t measure the breed’s loyalty. All dogs are loyal to their owners, and both Bullmastiffs and Boerboels were designed to protect their home. They kinda live for you.
