Im biased towards the cairn as i used to work them 30 year ago,they started off as a working breed to deal with rats and foxes but the fell type dogs such as lakeland&patterdales sort of outfavoured them over the years.Very underestimated as a pest control dog,but mine had the hearts of lions and would kill any fox that they cornered underground if it didnt bolt.I dont know of anyone that works them now as they seem to be a bit “bigger” nowadays and not really suited to work underground. Good old Kennel club regs yet again!!!
