Which is better tonnes or grade?
Too often the call has been to produce more tonnes, more than nameplate etc. in order to reduce costs. Besides the fact that it may exhaust an ore body when prices are low, it may also lead to lower head grades and lower recoveries. The primary aim should be to at least achieve the target for recovered grade and if tonnes can follow as well, then there is a bonus.
