Which is better sunflower or vegetable oil?
Most oils are vegetable based. What is commercially sold as vegetable oil is usually a mixture of various oils. The best oil to use depends very much on what you are using it for and how you define best. If you mean healthiest then canola (rapeseed) and sunflower oils are very good; canola just about wins because it has a higher smoke point and is lowest in saturated fats. Olive oil is good for salad dressings and for dishes which don’t require high temperature frying. In terms of taste there are a whole heap of things like ghee (clarified butter), coconut oil, groundnut oil, sesame oil which all have different tastes and are good for different dishes and styles of cooking.
