Different conditions require different kites. RAM kites are better foils, requiring less wind, while LEI kites are more user friendly and generally have more range. Lake Tahoe, for example, is a low wind, high altitude environment, so RAM kites are better there. In the Columbia Gorge, we get a lot of gusty turbulent wind better suited for LEI kites.
