Which is better petrol or diesel?
It depends on what you want. Diesel engines are built far stronger to handle the increased compression and heat that the diesel cycle produces. This means they are also heavier and more expensive. However, this also means they produce MUCH more torque at a lower engine speed than unleaded gasoline…and better fuel economy. Gasoline engines are the king in economy at the moment. A Toyota Corolla will be cheaper than a VW Jetta TDI. But they are not as fuel efficient and produce much less torque. I think you got to ask yourself this: what do I plan to do with this car and how long do I want it to last? You’ll be able to make the best decision after answering that question. But yeah. Torque is what diesels are all about. So if you want to carry lots of stuff or tow lots of stuff, go with diesel.
