Which is better: Mac book pro or Mac Desktop?
I can say, hands-down, that a MacBook Pro will be the best choice for you as an Art Student. Here’s why: 1) You may wish to move around a lot, sell your art while out and about, hang out in a cafe, check your e-mail wherever you are or generally impress your friends. Unless you sit at home all the time, or invite everyone over, a desktop will not accomplish most of these things. 2) Although, in general, it is easier to expand a desktop than it is to expand a laptop, Apple is making headway in some areas: allowing you to upgrade your hard drive and memory without voiding your warranty on the MacBook units. With external drives being so cheap these days, you can store anything you want on them, so storage space is usually not an issue, except for what you need while out and about. 500GB of space is more than enough for most things currently. 3) As a desktop replacement, the MacBook Pro is excellent.
