Which is better, Kyokushin or shotokan karate?

As a general rule Kyokushin spars harder, however I have sparred many Shotokan karateka and have been impressed with some and wanted to laugh at others. I think because Shotokan is so much larger than Kyokushin that the standards vary much more.
