On One Hand: K9 Advantix is StrongerWhile both Frontline and K9 Advantix effectively kill fleas and ticks, K9 Advantix is stronger. K9 Advantix contains the ingredients imidacloprid and permethrin, insecticides that kill not only fleas and ticks like Frontline, but also mosquitoes. K9 Advantix may work faster, as it begins working immediately and kills fleas within 12 hours, as opposed to Frontline Plus which may take an additional six hours to kill all fleas.On the Other: Frontline Has Other AdvantagesFrontline equals K9 Advantix in its thoroughness, killing fleas within 18 hours and ticks within 48. Both products are waterproof and remain effective for one month before reapplication is necessary. However, Frontline is safer, as it can be used on cats as well as dogs, whereas K9 Advantix is toxic to cats.
