Which is better, canvas art or lithograph art?
Lithograph art is also known as “printing”(insert Dr. Evil impression here). From newspaper to magazines to the menu from your local Chinese take-out. It is typically a mechanical process, although some artists do it the old fashioned way – with water, wax, and a flat stone (“lithos” in Greek = stone). You can litho to numerous substrates and mediums, including canvas! Personally, I think canvas is a “better” medium, but litho is both a medium and a mechanical process which can be used to make unlimited reproductions of an artwork. Creatively speaking though, litho can be used to achieve results other than simple reproduction. See here.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithograph Many artist use litho processes to create original artwork. It’s really high-end stuff, an esoteric artform.
