Which is better a Kreepy Krauly or a Barracuda?
Having had to deal with both, my opinion is that the Kreepy is better. The ‘Cuda has a diaphragm that is easily damaged and requires periodic replacement The part is free under warranty, but the service call, if you don’t know how to do it, isn’t. Kreepy’s mechanism is more robust. Out of 10 service calls to repair automatic pool cleaners, it was the “cuda, 9 times out of that 10, I had to fix. Cleaning wise, both operate equally well. As for “energy efficiency”, that I saw posted in the other answer here…what? All of those models are what are called suction side cleaners. They run off your pump. If your pump is running for filtration, they run too. If your pump is off…they are off. Since you’re already running your pump for circulation, they’re just piggy backing the cost of the electricity. No difference in the energy costs if the cleaners are hooked up or not. For the Kreepy, there’s a host of accessories that solve issues on obstruction hang ups. There isn’t much for the “cuda.
