Which is a good camera Nikon or Canon?
Hi, I believe you are right – both Canon and Nikon are equally awesome! It is interesting that whenever this question is asked on YA – probably 3 times per day – Canon users say Canon and Nikon users say Nikon, and mostly they say the other is rubbish. How can this be right? In my view too much time is spent worrying about the tiny differences in camera performance and not enough time spent getting out and taking pictures. You don’t say how much you have to spend, so its difficult to give a particular model recommendation. Best would be to go to a decent photo store and handle to 2 brands, ask some questions of the salesperson and make your choice. I am sure you will be very happy with either camera make.
They are both good cameras. You need to actually handle them if you will be taking a lot of pictures as it is wise to see how they feel in your hands. Canon makes better compact cameras and Nikon makes better digital SLR cameras. What you get will be determined by your needs and budget. I own a Canon Powershot G10 camera, but I plan on buying a Nikon D700 DSLR camera soon. Cannon will probably last longer and take basic pics but Nikon usually has a lot better lenses and they make optics like binoculars so they usually have a lot better zoom also. Also I have a Nikon Coolpix s610 and it has tons of features like smile detection, red eye reduction, moving auto focus, and normal video capture and it only cost $160 and it takes ten mega pixel pictures. It is the best camera I have ever used and I have used a lot of canon, nikon, fugifilm, and even hp.
EXCUSE ME PEOPLE, Nikon does not make “better DSLRs or better zoom lenses,” it is 100% personal preference, they both have equal quality competing cameras and 60+ lenses. Mr. Anthony point and shoot guy thinks he’s used canons and nikons and hp and cameras that are total garbage compared to REAL DSLRs, so he has no clue what he’s talking about, and taking “basic” pics does not exist.
