Which is a better craft to learn, knitting or crochet?”
Many knitted projects have some crocheting in the finishing or details, so if you’re leaning toward knitting, you’ll need to know some basic crochet as well. Also, your choice may be influenced by the patterns that are available for the types of things you want to make. Socks: usually knitted, but a growing number of crochet patterns are available. Afghans, Blankets, Cushions: more frequently crocheted (since it seems to go faster on large projects) but many patterns are available for both. Baby & Kid stuff: lots of patterns available for both knit & crochet, including soft toys. Adult clothing: both knitted & crocheted, but more frequently knitted. Free patterns & tutorials for both are available online. Lion Brand’s web site has an excellent resource section, see linky.
