Industrial design is a very large multiple sector space with UNlimited opportunities for talent; ON the contrary Architecture is constrained with local building rules,kulture,land availability/location,etc. Choosing between either is about your inclination and basic aptitude, as a Architect one can always pursue Industrial design as a avocation,in private,however, it is very difficult to be a Architect with experience as a Industrial designer and attain membership into the Council of Architects, except perhaps you can show-case your Architectural talents on a drawing board and partake in expositions.
