Which icing is better to make sunflower cupcakes- royal or buttercream icing?
Well, the sunflowers would definitely hold up better in the royal icing and you have the benefit of being able to make them ahead of time. I would assume you are going to put icing on the cupcakes anyway, so topping them with the royal icing sunflowers would be a real treat to the kids. My favorite memory of birthday cakes when I was little was, excuse the expression, sucking on one of the sugary royal icing roses after all the cake was gone. I still love the taste today!
