There are several hop-on hop-off tours in Rome, most departing from Termini station. We found the “110 open tourist route” (110 open itinerario turistico) to be one of the best. Not only do they provide a beautiful map (a perfect souvenir BTW), their route makes sense, and they do use modern double decker buses with a convertible roof.
