Which historical sites should families visit while vacationing in Lake George?
Lake George is considered one of the historic lakes of New York. In the “Last of the Mohicans”, James Fenimore Cooper, retold the story of the end of the French and Indian War. One of the places he mentioned in his book was Fort William Henry. The fort has been preserved and is open from May through October. The Fort William Henry Museum is located by the fort. There are other historic sites, which include Fort Ticonderoga, located to the north of the Lake George region.
