Which has caused the Jews the most pain – Madoff or Tay Sachs disease?
I think Bernie Madoff has caused jews more pain than Tay Sachs disease. TSD is caused by inheriting a ‘double-dose’ of a fault in a gene which codes for the HexA enzyme. In the general population only about one in 300 people carry a faulty copy of the HEXA gene. Carriers themselves are not affected by the disease. Madoff financially destroyed thousands of companies, charities and organizations and in turn hundreds of thousands of the people: owners, employees, clients and their families who depended on them and other companies and organizations linked to the swindled companies. Some of the organizations that were cleaned out in his ponzi scheme supported Tay-Sachs Disease and other disease research. Plus Bernie’s scandal plays to a negative stereotype that all jews are unethical money handlers. Bernie Madoff himself is a greed driven larcenist and deserves to rot in prison every day of his 150 year sentence for the pain and misery he caused his victims.
