Which Haas CNC team is the better one: Green/Sauter or Mayfield/Riggs?
I was shocked to hear Haas CNC Racing was dumping Jeff Green and Johnny Sauter in favor of Jeremy Mayfield and Scott Riggs and in a couple years you will see that team regretting the decision. Sauter is one of the best young drivers in the soon-to-be Sprint Cup. In his first full season of Cup racing, Sauter has seven top-20s, coming on all different styles of tracks and in mediocre equipment. He has a fifth at Richmond, a ninth at Phoenix and has kept his car in the top 35 in points all season, despite having to qualify on time the first five races of the season. Compare that to the resume of Mayfield who has made just 13 races this season and has yet to finish in the top 20. In 15 years, Mayfield has never really been a dominant force on the track. Yes, he has made the Chase field twice, but five wins in 416 career starts and a career average finish of 21.1 is not impressive, considering he’s driven for top teams like Penske and Evernham. Mayfield is in the twilight of his career, ha
