Which group believes Jesus and the Archangel Michael are one and the same?
One verse JWs use to link Jesus to Michael is 1 Thes 4:16: “The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice, and with God’s trumpet.” The fact that the word “with” is used 3X in this verse demonstrates that 3 separate things will happen simultaneously when Christ returns. Jesus will issue a commanding call, the voice of an archangel will be present, and God’s trumpet will sound. The voice of the glorified Christ is definitively defined elsewhere in Scripture. “His voice was as the sound of many waters” (Rev 1:15). Eze 43:2 describes “the God of Israel’s” voice similarly. “His voice was like the voice of vast waters.” (NASB: “His voice was like the sound of many waters”). Therefore, one instance in the Bible where the voice of Jesus is clearly described, it is identified with the voice of the God of Israel rather than with the voice of an archangel.
