Which fruit juice packs the most nutrients with the fewest calories?
I’m not talking about the “cranberry juice cocktail” or “cranberry juice drink” that comes sweetened. That stuff is mostly high fructose corn syrup and probably has about as many calories as any other juice. “A number of dietitians reported that they consider unsweetened cranberry juice to be low enough in natural sugars to be a “free” food for diabetics when used in moderation.” (Quoted from here.) Unsweetened cranberry juice is available at natural/health food stores, though. We sold it when I worked at Whole Foods. It’s a little more expensive than “cranberry juice cocktail,” but it’s very nutritious and isn’t very caloric. You may find, however, that a little sweetening makes it somewhat more palatable – it’s definitely got a puckering effect!
