Which four states were formed after the Mexican-American War?
The four states that were formed as a result of the Mexican-American War were Nevada, Arizona, California, and Utah. The territory that sequentially made up these states was being occupied by Mexico, and as a result of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, were transferred to the United States. Although the territory was ceded to the United States, these states were not immediately formed. California did not achieve statehood until 1850. Nevada joined the US in 1864, Utah in 1896, and Arizona in 1912.
