Which form of pressups develop pectoral muscles the most?

Hi Sam – Wide grip bench-press (aka press up) will actually only work a part of the pectorals. Close-grip presses will also work the pectorals somewhat, but are actually really effective mass building exercises for the triceps. If you want full pectoral development, you will need to hit flat bench-press, incline bench press (body angled upward), and decline bench press (body angled downward). These movements are best for building raw muscle mass. In addition, these same pressing movements are quite effective with dumbbells as well. Flyes are also good for hitting the inside of the pectorals. Cable crossovers can be useful in pec work, but won’t be as effective in building mass. Stay away from the machines unless the free weights bother you or you are simply looking to tone rather than bulk up. Lastly, the good old tried and true push-up, while boring and not particularly fun, is still very effective in building both strength and mass in the chest. Good luck my friend!
