Which football club had three successive former Notts County players as manager in the 1970s?
The answer will be revealed in a book looking at the complete history of the club in question – Long Eaton United. Author Ritchie Woods says that the publication will be around June 2010. The Notts County connection is as follows: Bobby Tait was player manager from 1971-72 as well as a player the previous season Terry Thompson was player manager from June 1972 to December 1972 also in a playing capacity the previous season Brian Daykin was Long Eaton’s manager from December 1972 – 74. “Bobby took the team to their highest Midland League position at that time – fourth. Terry was recommended by Bob and was one of the youngest-ever Midland League managers, while Brian still keeps in touch with the club from his home in Australia,” Ritchie says.
