Hello Sheriff, In far most cultures the marriage ring is worn on the ring finger of the LEFT hand. This tradition has been linked with various mysterious observations: 1 – in ancient times Romans believed that the ring finger of the left hand is directly connected to the heart through the ‘vena amoris’ , but there is no such a vein at all in the human body; 2 – interestingly, according ‘finger professor’ John T. Manning has unvelied/described some remarkable facts about the ring finger (see the first source below, page 51): “It is a remarkable coincidence that the 4th digit [finger] is associated with testosterone concentrations and sperm counts and is also the digit that is used to mark marital status in many cultures. …” The 2nd source below presents an interesting illustration how the ring finger is linked with ‘sexual behavior’ in men – women usually love the story!
