Which electric door strike is locked during a current failure?
Electric door strikes with fail-locked operation (e.g. Models 12 water-resistant, 14, 17, 19, 141, 142, etc.) are locked during a current failure. The door can only be opened as long as the electric door strike is energized. If alternating current is being used, a typical snapping noise can be heard that is omitted with direct current. The electric door strike is always designed for a momentary contact which is the case when the door is released by a door release pushbutton.
