Which double bass pedals are better the Tama HP900PSW Iron Cobra Coil Power Glide or the Pearl P3002D Eliminator Demon Drive?
I’ve always used the Pearl 2002-Series Eliminators. I’ve tried the Demon Drive version, but I didn’t really like it. Both the original Eliminators and the Demon Drive are super smooth, which is what separates them from the Tama model. Whenever I had this conversation with other drummers, they said they used the Tama pedals for speed, while I used the Pearls for consistency. From what Pearl is saying, the Demon Drive model is much faster than any of their previous models, but it does take time to get used to, considering it doesn’t use the conventional ‘chain-drive’ system. Ultimately it comes down to preference and the styles you’re playing. Demon Drives and Tama usually are great for metal and other rock scenarios, but I’ve never even considered switching from my 2002 Eliminators when I’m playing jazz…. Go to a music store and try them out for yourself- everyone has their own preference.
