Which dog is less expensive the maltese or the shih-tzu?
rescue member is right – you shouldn’t get a dog based on price. The cheaper the dog may mean that the dog was poorly bred or has undesirable health or behavior traits. YOu have to keep in mind that you’ll also have to pay for supplies and vet care throughout the dogs life. We paid about $700 for that in just one month (crate, bed, towels, toys, collar/lead, ID tag, license, vet check, blood work, stool sample, flea/tick, heart worm, shots, etc…) and we still buy food, new toys, training, grooming, etc almost every three months or so. Don’t forget emergency care and/or spay/neuter. The best place to get a low cost dog is a shelter that provides health and behavior screening prior to adoption.
