Well, if you look, you will see that groynes are already in usage. And also know that they caused substancial damage further down tide because of their deposition of all sediment where they are positioned. Meaning the beaches downstream are non-existant as there is no supply of sediment. If you know the case study then you will also have heard of Sue Earls farm (I think the second name is right) where because they were catching sediment to protect holderness her farm got wrecked through the erosion. Because of this, your question is actually quite complicated. The usage of Gabions would be an obvious answer… however this is not brilliant because the coastline of Holland (where the sediment from Holdenress is deposited) would not expand. Indeed not in the area of the town, the method being used is managed retreat. Which is a solution to uninhabited areas. In holderness a combination of Groynes, Sea Walls and Gabions is the best combination. I know beach nourishment is another option,
