Which direction should a ceiling fan rotate in a cooling mode?

this a question that comes up often but like gas man said it makes no difference the air is moving either way the reason they have reversible direction on fans is so you can run it where the air does not blow directly on you if you are sitting under it dry eyes, papers flying etc not sure where the Myth got started about trapped air in ceiling

Geez everyone, there’s no such thing as “anti-clockwise”! Ceiling fans are designed to rotate counter-clockwise (pushing the air down) in summer, and clockwise (pulling cool air up, thus pushing the warm air near the ceiling down) in the winter.

Depends what direction your fan blades are angled. Ceiling fans should blow the air down during the cooling season, and up in the heating season. The reason is that when you’re hot, air blowing on you feels good. During the heating season, air blowing on you feels like a draft.
