The top three all go into Iowa and New Hampshire with big expectations and a lot of people who are not comfortable with one or more of them. If one of the big three sweeps Iowa and New Hampshire the other two are in trouble. The second tier goes in without very high expectations and one of them at least will do much better than expected and might even finish third. That person is then seen as on the rise and will quickly become the alternative to the front-runner for those who aren’t comfortable with that front-runner. I see Clinton and Obama with enough money to hang on past NH no matter what happens but Edwards must do very well in Iowa to last past NH. If Clinton loses both states she is in deep trouble heading into South Carolina, which is where Edwards was born and it has a very large African-American population. I see Dodd, Biden or Richardson emerging as the alternative candidate with the other two dropping out shortly after New Hampshire if not before. Kucinich (my guy) will ha
