Which Defragmentation Tool Works Better?
Since each computer is different, one defragmentation software tool may work better with one machine than it does with another. In a head-to-head comparison by blogger Donn Edwards (see References), Windows Defragmentation Tool for Windows XP was able to improve computer performance by 32 percent, whereas Norton Utilities Speed Disk 19.0.1.8 improved computer performance by 4.3 percent. However, another head-to-head comparison conducted by Jay Munro of PC Magazine (see References) shows that Norton Speed Disk allows for custom placement and order of optimized files, and it has more options that a user can choose from than Windows Defragmenter Tool. Therefore, depending on the computer system you wish to defragment, either one may be able to accomplish the task at hand.
