Which d link pcmcia card will work with a d-link 514 wireless router?
Hello pig86 Your router is uses the 802.11b wireless standard. You can use a PC card that works w/ 802.11g or 802.11b. Those that are compatible w/ the 802.11g standard are also “backward compatible”. In other words, they will also work w/ the older 802.11b wireless standard. You don’t have to purchase a PC card made by the same manufacturer as your router. You can mix and match manufacturers of your networking hardware/equipment just fine. They all adhere to the same industry standards. As for choosing a specific PC card for your laptop, we’ll need to know the make (manufacturer) and model of your laptop. We will also need to know what operating system your are running on your laptop. (We want to make sure that drivers would be available for the PC card when running w/ your operating system.)
