Palmdale, California, July 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Firefighters struggled to control a fire that engulfed more than seven square miles in the Los Angeles County area leading to extensive evacuations and gutting all the structures that came on its way. Authorities have stated that the fire was triggered off the northern direction of State Route 14 and swept north and east towards Palmdale in the Los Angeles County. As many as five hundred firefighters are at the scene to control the blaze with 2,000 residences in the area already being evacuated. Huge flames and black smokes made its way across the hills that connect Los Angeles to the high desert engulfing everything that came on path. Apart from the large number of firefighters who have been working tirelessly to stop the blaze from expanding any further, three water-dropping helicopters are also being used by the authorities to bring the situation under control. The out-of-control fire is burning north of State Route 14 northeast of Santa Clarita and approaching homes in the hills around Palmdale.The county fire department ordered the mandatory evacuation of 1,200 homes on Thursday evening as they prepare to attack the flames. The wildfire has already burned through over 7 square miles.Helicopters circle overhead dropping water and fire engine crews rushed to fight the blaze. The fire jumped a road in several places, sending firefighters and sheriff’s deputies scattering. Fire Inspector Matt Levesque says the fire is active from every direction and is being driven by heavy and dry brush that burn easily.Earlier in the week, firefighters contained two brush fires that destroyed homes in remote mountain communities to the north.
