Which country launched the first space shuttle?
Well that depends on what you mean. If you mean which one launched the first thing that actually made it to space, that would be Russia in 1957 with sputnik one. If you mean the first man controlled space shuttle then that would once again be Russia in 1961 with the shuttle Vostok 3KA-3. Basically Russia was the first country to do anything significant in space. Russia was also the first to send a probe into Venus’ atmosphere and to have something have contact with the moon’s surface. The United States is only significant in that they were the first to put a man on the moon.
