Hati. The voodoo religion was developed by tribes from Hati and Africa and when the French brought these tribes to Louisiana the slaves used their religion for a defense againt the white man. At one time the slaves were not allowed to gather together because their owners feared their beliefs. Hoodoo is different from Voodoo because it involves less formal practices. The voodoo religion is now Hati’s overall religion in that country.
