Which countries offer the best value in terms of currency against the pound at present?
FT: There are two ways of looking at the situation; what the pound is doing against other currencies in terms of purchasing travel and accommodation in the UK and the value on the pound on the ground while on a trip. People are being directed by their travel agents toward where there is value; this includes Dubai, the Caribbean, Kenya and Thailand for example. Prices here have fallen in comparison to the pound. Travellers are also being influenced with budget; with their decision influenced by their ability to spend while they are there. A number of these locations appeal as well – they are cheaper in terms of cost of living. WK: Booking with tour operators presents an opportunity this year; as prices are fixed at last years currency rate. These are varied by operator and currency, but do represent some very strong deals.
