Which Countries couldn accept refugees due to problems such as economy, etc?
The U.S. could not accept German Jews during/before WWII because of the horrible depression–a ship came by from Europe full of the Jewish and the U.S. actually had to tell them to turn back and find another country! (only some ahead of time were able to come into America like Albert Einstein) The British took in many as well but refused to take so much the Germans were offering because of the overflow in Jewish population; during this time, many resented the Jews including the English! I believe the Ottoman Empire [Israel] also accepted Jewish but were in the same place as Great Britain; did not want too many. The Germans wanted an “all aryan” race [blue eyes, blonde hair, and white].
