BioCryst’s has several drug candidates in clinical trials. Peramivir is a neuraminidase inhibitor designed for the treatement of influenza. This product is currently in Phase II clinical development with two formulations, intravenous and intramuscular. Forodesine hydrochloride (BCX-1777, or forodesine HCl), is a purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP) inhibitor designed to treat T-lymphocyte mediated disorders. This product is currently in a pivotal trial for the treatment of patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). This trial is being conducted under a Special Protocol Assessment from the FDA, which began enrolling patients during the fourth quarter 2007. BCX-4208 is a second generation PNP inhibitor being evaluated for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and for the prevention of acute rejection in transplantation. This product is currently in an ongoing Phase IIa trial for patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.
