Which company makes the best laser printers? And why are they the best?
HP is by far the best company when it comes to laser printers. First, HP laser printers are very low-maintenance. On most HP laser printers, the cartridges are the only things you ever have to replace. In contrast, with Brother laser printers, you have to purchase cartridges, a drum head ($120, must purchase after every 5 cartridge replacements), you have to periodically clean the corona wires, as well as the drum unit. Also, the toner waste box must be emptied and you have to replace the transfer kit on Brothers. This is not necessary on most HP laser printers. HP printers tend to be a little more pricey than other printers though. Often, this is because HP laser printers ship with more toner in the box than other brands, like Brother. For example, the HP 3600n laser printer ($499) ships with $300 more worth of toner than the similar Brother HL-4040CN printer ($399).
