Which comes first father/daughter or bride/groom?
“Proud to be 51” said it all and said it best. We attended two weddings this summer, and both couples made the same choice/mistake…they were announced into their reception, and then…….nothing. They kind of wandered away or huddled on the dance floor with their wedding party like at a football game. I expected them to yell “BREAK!” and get into formation for the next play. Much much later in each event, THEN they went to do their first dance as a couple (traditionally should be first, kind of the reason everyone is there, b/c you were just married, you know?) and then the father/daughter & mother/son dance. It all felt kind of anti-climatic. My wedding officiant offered the advice that she felt you should do the first dance etc right after you are announced. She said otherwise people eat and drink at the cocktail hour waiting on the wedding party to arrive, who then arrive, everybody eats the meal (if applicable to the reception/time of day or evening) .. and by the time you go to
