Which city in britain featured and prospered most in African slavery trade?

The cities most involved were the three biggest ports of the day. These were Bristol, Liverpool and London. I rather think that a handful of slave traders prospered rather than the majority of people. I don’t think any nation could deny involvement with this awful trade in human suffering……least of all the US and Britain. It is part of the history curriculum in schools and most people are at least aware of it, many very well informed. Neither of us has anything to be proud of in that respect.

The foundations of our modern city network were laid during the eighteenth century. As colonial commitments broadened, and commerce flourished, the cities of Bristol, Liverpool and Newcastle prospered. New money, emboldened by wealth from slavery and the export economy, began to circulate.
