Which can prevent hair loss – Hot shower or cold shower?
There are many things you can do to prevent your current hair loss from getting worse. Hot or cold water in the shower though doesn’t prevent hair loss. Instead you can avoid wearing hats/caps for long periods of time (and, when you do wear them, make sure they’re not pulling your hair) – they’re important when you need to protect your hair from strong sun, witch does great damage to your hair. Don’t shower with too hot water.
There is a general misconception that a hot shower helps get rid of sebum on the scalp and a cold rinse after that helps unclog pores, which keeps the hair clean and dry. It is true that a hot shower removes dirt more easily, but it will stimulate sebum secretion on the scalp. Rinsing it with cold water after that will cause the sebum to stay on the scalp. Hence, set water temperature for your shower between 37ºC to 38ºC, which is the most appropriate
