Rugby (Union) came first. Rugby (union)was the original Rugby and still is the only Rugby today. rugby league on the other hand is mistaken for Rugby quite a lot. But this is NOT Rugby. It used to be a different type of Rugby. It was the offspring of Rugby (union).
