Which bushes/shrubs would grow fastest and act as a buffer against the road for privacy?
Your location will determine what plants would grow and thrive, though there are some plants that will grow most anywhere. Laurel is a fast growing hardy evergreen, growing to 20 feet or so, though can be pruned easily to shape. Ceonothus is another evergreen, that gets smothered in deep blue flowers, will grow to 15 feet ish, slower than laurel. You could consider some evergreen Berberis too, which are typically thick and thorny, deterring invaders. Will post some photos when at my pc, as Im on a mobile phone atm. Hope this helps.
