Which Buffy Character Would Make the Best Agony Aunt?
Possibly the most rounded candidate overall: certainly it would be a close tie between Joyce and Willow in selecting the successful candidate. Experienced (read: older), friendly, sympathetic yet no-nonsense, she’d certainly fulfil all the requirements of the role. Perhaps my only disquiet would be her firm denial when it comes to matters of the supernatural. In Sunnydale, an agony aunt is as likely to receive tales of woe regarding the demon infestation in someone’s garden shed, as sorrowful missives about broken relationships and horrid co-workers. Suggesting a mediation service or a heart-to-heart over coffee and biscuits really isn’t going to work when it’s vampires you’re dealing with. However in later seasons Joyce did reluctantly face up to the fact that Buffy wasn’t wearing that garlic spray when she went out for the night because it was the latest thing with Britney and Lilo.
