Which breed of dog is less likely to get ill, Golden Retriever or Golden retriever/Yellow lab mix?

If both the sire and the dam are susceptible to health problems than you are likely to have a pup susceptible to the same problems. (Ex. if you bred a GSD with with poor hips to a Golden with poor hips, you’ll get mixed breed pups who will likely have very poor hips.) Both breeds have alot of the same genetic health concerns including, PRA, cancers, hip dysplasia etc. If both the dam and sire are healthy and free of genetic conditions the pups are more likely to be as well, no matter mixed breed or not. Purebreds are more likely to be tested for genetic conditions but this is not always the case.

Depends. If you get a Golden Retriever from a reputable breeder who tests for health and has a guarantee for health, then that Golden Retriever is going be healthier than any mutt with exception of if your dog has a general disease such as cancer that can’t be prevented though health tests and the like. On the other hand, you have to remember that anyone with two pure bred dogs can register a litter with the AKC. This means that it doesn’t matter if the parents ever showed, doesn’t matter if the parents passed health tests. It’s kind of like buying a knock off item from a vender. You get what you pay for and you get what you buy. If you didn’t research into what you were buying and who you were buying it from, it’s your own fault. With mutts, it’s the same as most of these purebred dogs from puppy mills and back yard breeders. You have no clue where that mutt is coming from. You have no clue about its genetic history. For all you know, it’s its own grandpa.
