Which book/DVD is the best for Spanish starters who do not have much spare time?
Barron’s has a line of books geared toward professional uses, which are great for vocabulary. Depending on what kind of Spanish you will need, you may want to check on whether the resource is Castillian (from Spain), or from one of the many Latin American & Caribbean countries – the Spanish can be VERY different! There are many online resources, as well. You can look at websites such as: www.donquijote.org (my fav!) for help with verbs, vocabulary & culture. Here are some others: http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish http://www.elhuevodechocolate.com/ http://www.smartphrase.com/Spanish/sp_general_words_phr.shtml Some of these have fun things like tongue-twisters, etc that can make
Well, I’ve been studying Spanish for a year now myself. I thought the Lola Lagó books were the best help I could find. Once you’ve gotten started in Spanish you will soon be able to read them. They are divided into to levels (level 0 being for beginners) and will get harder and harder the higher the level becomes. The good thing about those books is that they tell a story. They don’t tell you to learn this and that but you get all that along the way. And once you’ve finished these books you can go on to other ones. It’s not business spanish by no means but if you don’t have any idea about the language this is the best place you can start.
