Which bomb was more devastating: Fat Man, or Little Boy?
Fat Man was the more powerful of the two, but Little Boy caused more devastation. Fat Man didn’t exactly “hit” it’s mark which mean most of it’s destructive power was wasted in terms of the destruction of Nagasaki. It missed by 2 miles and the hills of the Urakami Valley protected a major portion of the city. Remember there was 70% cloud cover over Kokura which nearly forced them to call off the attack and land at Okinawa instead of returning to Iwo due to the fact that fuel was running out and fears that secondary target, Nagasaki, would also be covered so they could not drop.
